William ‘Bill’ Eddy, 83

William “Bill” Eddy, age 83, of Coeur d’Alene, passed away at home on Dec. 6, 2019, with his wife of 61 years beside him. He succumbed to lung cancer.

Bill was born in 1936 to Howard and Virginia (Vestal) Eddy, in Iowa. The first 30 years of Bill’s life were spent in Iowa. In his youth, Bill was in 4-H and won ribbons with his horse. He won champion and grand champion ribbons for his hog at the county fair.

Bill was called to service in the United States Army and was stationed at Fort Lewis, Wash. He was honorably discharged and returned home to Iowa.

Bill was united in marriage in 1958 to Bonnie Richardson. Their union was blessed with two daughters, Lisa and Carol, and 61 years of marriage together. Bill’s main occupation was in construction; his work ethic was to always be a half-hour early. In addition to road construction he had a small farming operation.

Bill enjoyed fishing, hunting, trap shooting, traveling the United States and Canada in his motor home, and he especially enjoyed time spent with his family and friends. In retirement, he enjoyed daily coffee time with friends.

Bill is lovingly remembered by his wife, Bonnie of Coeur d’Alene; daughters Lisa Permen and Carol Eddy of Coeur d’Alene; grandchildren Casey (Arlena) Eddy, Aaron Permen, Madelyne Permen, Alicia Gehres and Dustin Gehres; great-grandchildren Shelby and Archie Eddy and sisters Kerry Balbiani and Lori O’Hara. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Shirley DeJong.

Funeral service for Bill will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, 2019, at Yates Funeral Home — Coeur d’Alene Chapel, 744 N. Fourth St., Coeur d’Alene. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the chapel. Private interment will be at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens.
