ST. MARIES — Sandpoint girls basketball continued its winning ways Tuesday night, taking down St. Maries 53-22 to complete a season sweep of the Lumberjacks.

“It took us awhile to get our legs under us but defensively we played really well right from the start,” Sandpoint head coach Will Love said. “We pressured them and they turned it over quite a bit. They had a hard time with the pressing that we were doing.”

The Bulldogs (5-4) have won four of their last five games and are back over .500 for the first time since taking down St. Maries 58-33 in their season opener.

Once again the Bulldogs aggressive defense showed up and held the Lumberjacks to just 3 points in the first quarter. And the offense started clicking with the help of senior Dawson Driggs in the second quarter who scored 7 points in an eight minute span to propel Sandpoint to a 36-11 halftime lead.

Eight different Bulldogs scored in the game as Sandpoint cruised to a victory.

Driggs finished with 15 points, freshman Kelsey Cessna scored 8 and senior Maddie Morgan added 7.

Sandpoint will stay on the road to face Bonners Ferry at 7 p.m. Thursday.
