RATHDRUM — Ben Zubaly had 16 points and five assists, and the Lakeland Hawks took control early in a 70-57 victory over the visiting St. Maries Lumberjacks in nonleague play Tuesday night at Hawk Court.
Carson Seay hit three 3-pointers and had 14 points and four steals for Lakeland (7-0). Ammon Munyer added 14 points, Noah Haaland had 12 points and eight rebounds, and Abe Munyer had eight rebounds.
“The first quarter we played really well,” Lakeland coach Dave Stockwell said. “Ammon Munyer had eight points in the first half, and was pretty much a load inside. They had a hard time with him.”

“There’s no quit in them,” Stockwell said of St. Maries. “They’re a real scrappy team.”
St. Maries plays host to Potlatch on Thursday.

MULLAN — Kenyon Spotted Horse scored 25 points for the Knights in a North Star League win over the Tigers at the Mullan Pavilion.
“We pressured them really well and Kenyon was able to get a lot of points in transition,” Lakeside coach James Twoteeth said. “Overall, I really liked our balance tonight.”
“Lakeside’s a terrific offensive team, play well together and have for years,” Mullan coach Paul Elston said. “They know exactly where their teammates are going to be, and it’s obvious they put a lot of time into the game. If we can clean up a few things, it would have been a lot closer than the final score indicated. But Lakeside’s speed and quickness forces anyone to rush into a speed that you’re not used to playing.”
