CLARK FORK — Despite junior Cameron Garcia scoring 26 points and hitting four 3-pointers, Clark Fork boys basketball fell to Noxon (Mont.) 60-49 Tuesday.

After a back and forth first half it looked like the Wampus Cats had a chance to claim their second win of the season but the Red Devils outscored Clark Fork 16-5 in the third quarter and held on down the stretch to secure the victory.

“We started the game off aggressive,” head coach Heath Beason wrote in a text. “The game plan was going good and we got in foul trouble and we couldn’t keep up the intensity. They capitalized on that and came back and got ahead of us.”

The Wampus Cats had a hard time slowing down Noxon senior Rylan Weltz. The 6-foot-5-inch forward had a whooping 40 points, scoring 28 of them in the second half.

Senior Josh Constantin added 12 points for the Wampus Cats.

“The kids fought to the end and to the last second,” Beason wrote. “I’m going to have to make some changes and regroup to get us back on track.”

Clark Fork (1-5, 0-1 NSL) heads to Post Falls JV 7 p.m. Thursday.

Noxon 14 17 16 13 — 60

Clark Fork 16 14 5 14 — 49

CLARK FORK — Garcia 26, SanRoman 5, Constantin 12, Kailang 2, Abbott 4, Paul Bopp 0.
