The Post Falls Chamber of Commerce welcomed Jerry Lyon as the 2020 chairman of the board at its annual meeting Tuesday. Mark Woodworth stepped down as chairman and took a place on the board of directors.

“Our board helps support over 5000 employees in North Idaho,” Woodworth said. “This chamber gives you access to relationships. This chamber is about people — everyone is welcome, everyone can serve.”

Lyon spoke about his excitement to serve as board chairman and his vision for the new year. He wants to increase chamber membership by 30 members, double the increase in 2019.

“I am humbled by the opportunity to work with such a talented team,” Lyons said.

“Jerry is a natural and warm leader,” said Chamber CEO Jamé Davis. “He is relationship-oriented and professional. He brings with him years of experience in the business community of northern Idaho, and a spirit of excellence that will ensure the success of our chamber and the goals and initiatives we have set for this next year.”

The chamber’s committees include the River City Leadership Program, Business and Education, Tourism, Public Policy, and the Ambassadors. All of the committees help foster relationships between business owners and community members.

“The Ambassador program takes the light of our chamber to the doorsteps of our members,” Lyon said.

Graydon Stanley, vice president of Student Services of North Idaho College in Coeur d’Alene, won both the president’s and chairman’s 2019 choice award for his work establishing and promoting the super scholarship raffle program offered through the Post Falls Chamber. Because of Stanley’s efforts, four students in North Idaho have received a $25,000 scholarship to a university or college within the state. All the scholarship recipients are currently enrolled in higher education institutions and plan to come back to build their careers.

“Graydon was instrumental in the success of the Super Scholarship Raffle program,” Davis said. “His efforts were so above and beyond that he was a shoe-in to receive both the president’s and the chairman’s choice award.”

Woodworth presented Davis a leadership award for her efforts in guiding the chamber’s success.

“You welcome others,” Woodworth said, as many in the room got a little teary eyed.
