BONNERS FERRY — At this rate, the Sandpoint girls basketball team may never lose again.
With a 64-54 victory over Bonners Ferry on Thursday night, the Bulldogs have won five of their last six games and have already beaten their win total from last season when they finished with five.
And they did it by coming back from an 8-point halftime deficit, outscoring the Badgers 40-22 in the second half.
“[Senior] Maddie Morgan hit some key shots from the field for us in the second half,” head coach Will Love wrote in a text. “It was a gritty team win for us against a good team. We had a lot of turnovers and missed some easy shots in the first half, but the girls were resilient and figured out a way to win.”
Senior Dawson Driggs led Sandpoint with 18 points and senior Maddie Morgan added 12. In total, eight Bulldogs scored in the game.
The Bulldogs (6-4) will head to West Valley High School in Spokane next Thursday to take on Riverside in the Eagle Classic. Sandpoint will face Pullman at 6 p.m. next Saturday as well.
