POCATELLO — Game 1 of what their coach called the “Toughness Tour” went the way of the Post Falls Trojans on Thursday night.

Colby Gennett had 16 points and nine rebounds, and Post Falls opened a stretch of three games in three days in eastern Idaho with a 58-44 victory over the Highland Rams.

Cole Rutherford added 10 points and nine assists for Post Falls (5-1), which plays at Rigby tonight and at Madison of Rexburg on Saturday afternoon.

“We answered the bell,” Post Falls coach Mike McLean said, referring to the first game of a road trip. “Highland was a very physical basketball team tonight, and I thought we handled it well. We shared the ball as well as we have all season.”

The Trojans had 14 assists on their 21 made baskets (on 40 attempts), and also had 16 steals.

Junior Isaac Ballew hit all three of his field-goal attempts (two of them 3-pointers), and was 3 for 3 from the line for 11 points for Post Falls. James Lee, another junior, added 10 points off the bench.

“James did a real good job of getting himself in a good scoring position,” McLean said. “Isaac is one of our shooters, and tonight he was making those shots, and shooting with confidence.”

Easton Durham, quarterback on the Rams’s football team, led Highland (2-5) with 15 points.
