Burke spurs Vikings past Colville

COEUR d’ALENE — Skylar Burke scored 12 second-quarter points and 14 of her 16 in the first half as the Coeur d’Alene Vikings rolled past the Colville Indians 64-38 on Saturday in nonleague play at Viking Court.

Nakisha Matheson and Madi Symons each scored 11 points for Coeur d’Alene (10-1), which returns to action Dec. 30 at home vs. Gonzaga Prep.

McKenna Reggear led Colville (4-3) with 15 points.

RATHDRUM — Holly Ansley scored 20 points and Baylee Blackmore added 17 as the visiting Badgers (5-4) avenged an earlier home loss to the Hawks with the nonleague win at Hawk Court.

“We said (before the game) Ansley and Blackmore needed extra attention, and we didn’t do a very good job accounting for them,” Lakeland coach Steve Seymour said.

Katy Ryan had 21 points, 15 rebounds and five blocked shots for Lakeland (3-8). Mel Loutzenhiser added nine points and six rebounds.

“We’re having a hard time putting the ball in the hoop,” Seymour said. “Katy is getting her points, but we need offense from somewhere other than Katy.”

Lakeland faces St. George’s on Friday at the Eagle Classic at West Valley High.

MOSCOW — Brooke Jessen and Taryn Soumas each scored 14 first-half points, and the visiting 3A Tigers jumped out to a 38-17 halftime league en route to the win over the 4A Bears at Bear Den.

Jessen finished with 22 points, Soumas 18 for Timberlake (7-4), which saw six players combine for eight 3-pointers.

“We played well on both sides of the ball,” Timberlake coach Matt Miller said. “We limited our turnovers, played good halfcourt defense, and shared the ball really well. We were really consistent.”

Moscow dipped to 0-7.

Timberlake plays Liberty of Spangle on Friday at the Eagle Classic at West Valley High.

Danika Kelly added 10 points and Courtney Monaghan had six steals and four assists for North Idaho Christian (8-2, 6-0 MCL), which plays host to Flathead Valley Home School Association on Friday at Holy Family Catholic School.

Mariella Cashen led Christian Center School with nine points.
