Margaret Alice Marie (Barry) Hoy

Margaret Alice Marie (Barry) Hoy of Post Falls, Idaho, passed away Thursday, Dec. 19, 2019, at 6:30 p.m. at Lifecare Center Post Falls. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Marge was born in Butte, Mont., on Nov. 24, 1938, Thanksgiving Day, at 4:30 p.m., to Richard and Alice Barry of Butte.

Marge grew up and went to school in Butte. She graduated in 1956 from Butte High. She married Raymond Hoy in 1957. Together they had four children: Liz, Ray, Ed and Heather.

Marge lived most of her adult life in Post Falls, where she raised her children and volunteered in the community. She worked at Kootenai Medical Center as a nutritionist and at The Blackwell Inn as an innkeeper. She enjoyed reading, Celtic music and being a mom and grandma to her own children, along with many other unofficial grandchildren and children. Genealogy and history were part of her favorite pastimes and she was even published in Big Smoke Historical Magazine.

Marge is survived by her children Liz Hoy, Raymond (Terri) Hoy, Ed (Dawn) Hoy and Heather Eddy; grandchildren Adrian, Jenny and Kattie, Jake (Hannah), Taylor, Danny Cutting, William Eddy and Riley Eddy. Surviving her is a brother, Ed Barry and daughter-in-law, Kitty Hoy. She also had several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family.

Marge was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Alice; sisters Jean and Joan; brothers Richard, Creighton and Michael and grandson, Joey Hoy.

The family gives a special thank you to all of the CNAs, nurses and the wonderful staff at Lifecare for loving and taking care of their mom like she was their own.

Memorial services will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to pick any charity of your choice that helps children, as she had never met a child she didn’t love. A few great ones are St Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Children’s Village.
