Locals honored on all-Idaho prep football teams

Five local athletes were named to the all-Idaho high school football first team in their respective classes, The Idaho Statesman newspaper of Boise announced.

5A: Coeur d’Alene senior wide receiver Colbey Nosworthy, Post Falls senior wide receiver Tommy Hauser and Coeur d’Alene junior linebacker Luke McLaughlin were named to the first team.

Nosworthy caught 79 passes for 1,196 yards and 12 touchdowns this season.

Hauser had 77 receptions for 1,148 yards and 17 TDs.

McLaughlin had 183 tackles for an average of 15.3 per game.

Nosworthy was also named to the second team at defensive back.

Other second-team selections from North Idaho included Coeur d’Alene junior quarterback Jack Prka; Coeur d’Alene senior offensive lineman Jack Courtney; Coeur d’Alene junior offensive lineman Jackson Kohal; Post Falls senior offensive lineman Justin Gies and Coeur d’Alene junior linebacker Jack Dohm.

Austin Bolt of Borah, a Boise State signee, was Player of the Year. Armando Gonzalez of Rigby was Coach of the Year.

4A: Colton Boettcher of Lakeland was named to the first team as a punter. He averaged 44.4 yards per punt.

Brandon Casey of Sandpoint, a Montana signee, was named to the second team as an offensive lineman.

Lan Larison of Vallivue was Player of the Year; Sherm Blaser of Kuna was Coach of the Year.

3A: Joey Follini of Timberlake was named to the first team as a defensive back.

Second-team selections included: Timberlake senior tight end Josh Yanez; Timberlake senior defensive back Louis Powell; Timberlake senior punter Jack McDonald; and Kellogg senior offensive lineman Justin Lehto.

Browning Bennion of Sugar-Salem was named Player of the Year. Tyler Richins of Sugar-Salem was Coach of the Year.

2A: Pete Knudson of McCall-Donnelly was named Player of the Year. Tyson Moser of West Side was Coach of the Year.

1A Division I: Cole Martin of Prairie was Player of the Year. Ryan Hasselstrom of Prairie was Coach of the Year.

1A Division II: Mullan senior running back Skye Gallaway and Clark Fork junior defensive back Cameron Garcia were named to the second team.

Carter Simpson of Carey was named Player of the Year. Cory Holloway of Carey was Coach of the Year.

The all-state teams selected by a vote of coaches statewide. The Statesman compiles the votes.
