Luxury condos planned for former Alpinglow site

After sitting vacant for years, the site of the former Alpinglow Inn on Big Mountain could soon be redeveloped. Canadian developers Reid Keebaugh, Jason Ortt and Jordan Guistini have proposed to begin construction on a new luxury condominium resort known as Landmark Whitefish on the slope-side property in the spring.

The Alpinglow Inn, built in 1968, was demolished in 2010. The lot between Whitefish Mountain Resort’s Chair 1 and Chair 2, has sat empty ever since.

Touted as “an exclusive community,” Landmark Whitefish is on track to be move-in ready by Christmas of 2021, the developers said.

Keebaugh told the Inter Lake the multi-story development will include high-end condos and full-service amenities. The ski-in, ski-out property is expected to offer three different condominium floor plans, a spa, restaurant, heated pool, underground parking and ski storage.

He was adamant that construction would not interfere with the ski slopes in any way.

This would be the first ski resort project for the development team, which has worked on numerous condominium developments throughout Canada.

“It was a great opportunity for redevelopment,” said Keebaugh, who has been skiing at Whitefish Mountain Resort for 30 years. “The location is so good for ski-in, ski-out.”

Although he never personally visited the Alpinglow Inn during its 42-year lifespan, Keebaugh said “I heard good things about it.”

“We’re going to bring back the heritage in the name,” he explained. The restaurant in the development will be named The Alpinglow after the historic establishment.

“This is the next stop the hill is looking for,” Keebaugh said. “It’s going to take it to the next level of other high-end ski resorts in the country. It’s going to be a must for high-end travelers.”

The proposed development site was listed for sale at $3.5 million in February last year. The property measures 1.046 acres.

Whitefish Mountain Resort officials said it’s exciting to finally see interest in redeveloping the prime slice of real estate.

“It’s been a long time coming,” said Riley Polumbus, public relations manager for Whitefish Mountain Resort. “We’re looking forward to see what comes of this project. It sounds very preliminary but we’re just excited someone is there. It’s a spot right there in the middle of everything.”
