LEWISTON — Dylan Lovett scored 10 of her game-high 21 points in the first quarter as the Post Falls Trojans beat the Lapwai Wildcats 66-49 in the opening round of the Avista Holiday Classic at Booth Hall on Thursday afternoon.
“Dylan got us off to a good start,” Post Falls coach Marc Allert said. “She was really consistent and played well the entire game.”
Ali Carpenter had 16 points and nine rebounds for Post Falls (6-4), which outscored Lapwai 22-10 in the fourth quarter.
“We started to wake up a little and play some defense in the fourth quarter,” Allert said. “We were able to get some turnovers from our press. We weren’t wide awake the first part of the game. Lapwai’s a good team, hard to guard and have a lot of players that can score for them. They’re a good team. Ali and Jayda Johnson played really well on defense for us.”
Post Falls takes on Lewiston today at Lewis-Clark State in a semifinal game starting at 6 p.m.
LC Lussoro scored 13 points for Lapwai (8-1).
