MOSES LAKE — Two people are dead after a Sunday night collision in Adams County caused by a driver traveling the wrong way on U.S. Highway 395 eight miles south of Lind.

Ramona Gonzales, 57, of Spokane, was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of Highway 95 at milepost 71, when she collided head-on with a vehicle carrying two adults and four juveniles.

Gonzales and Jessica Cody, a 36-year-old Ritzville resident and passenger of the second vehicle, were both declared dead at the scene. The driver of the second vehicle and four juvenile passengers were transported to area hospitals, one of whom was transported by Life Flight.

Both drivers and all passengers were using their seatbelts. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol were involved.

Northbound lanes were fully blocked while law enforcement cleared the scene, while the state Department of Transportation advised for traffic control. Both vehicles were totaled.
