PINEHURST – Two male suspects where taken into custody by Idaho State Police Thursday afternoon following a brief vehicle pursuit through the streets of Kingston and Pinehurst.

At approximately 1:30 p.m. on Jan. 31, ISP Trooper Brady Walker initiated a traffic stop on a white, four-door Nissan car when he notice it commit a traffic violation on eastbound Interstate-90 near Kingston.

Both vehicles pulled into the Exxon near Exit 43 when all of a sudden, the Nissan began to stop and go several times in the parking lot. After several more stop-and-go’s, the Nissan quickly pulled out of the parking lot and headed east on Silver Valley Road towards Pinehurst.

After radioing for backup, Walker pursued the suspects all the way through Pinehurst as they sped through a school zone and a four-way stop.

The Nissan continued heading east down Country Club Lane, ended up taking a left on Old Farm Road, and then came face-to-face with a fence in a dead end. Units with ISP, the Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office and the Kellogg Police Department used the situation to make the arrest.

“He got to the fence, tried to go off of the road and got stuck,” Walker explained. “That’s when we initiated a ‘high-risk’ stop- guns out and verbal commands. Took them into custody without incident at that point.”

Once the arrest had been made, ISP drug detection K-9 Ace was walked past the vehicle and alerted- signaling the presence of an illegal substance.

ISP Troopers searched the vehicle and discovered approximately three pounds of marijuana, 130 packages of THC oil/concentrate, drug paraphernalia and roughly $1,500 in cash.

Walker states that the suspects, identified at Kevin William Christensen and Christian Matheo Yglesias-Hood, both 21 of Billings, Montana, are believed to of obtained the marijuana at dispensaries in Eastern Washington and were on their way back to Montana.

Both are currently being held in the Shoshone County Jail in Wallace. Christensen is being charged with drug trafficking in marijuana and criminal conspiracy. Yglesias-Hood is also looking at a drug trafficking in marijuana charge in addition to an eluding an officer charge.

After the dust had settled, Walker was quick to thank the local agencies for there help during the situation.
