OTHELLO — Low visibility is to blame for an injury collision near Othello on Monday.
About 4:10 p.m. Daniel Lopez-Zuniga, 22, of Othello, was driving a 1995 Peterbilt semi-truck east on state Route 24, about 14 miles south of Othello, when he reportedly rear-ended a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck driven by Jackson Stredwick, 20, of Eltopia. The vehicles came to a rest off of the roadway, according to the Washington State Patrol.
Stredwick was injured in the collision and transported to the Othello Community Hospital by ambulance for treatment. Lopez-Zuniga was not injured. Both of the vehicles involved in the collision sustained reportable damages and were impounded. Alcohol and/or drugs did not play a role in the collision.
The patrol lists the official cause of the collision as “low visibility.” Possible charges are still being determined by the patrol.
