PASCO — A semi-truck driver from Othello was injured in a collision near Pasco last week that involved two semis.

The Washington State Patrol says Nikolay Zaytsev, 33, of Vancouver, was driving a 2007 Peterbilt semi-truck north on U.S. Highway 395, about 10 miles north of Pasco, when he reportedly struck a 2009 Kenworth semi truck driven by Gregorio Barrera, 46, of Othello, who was also heading north on U.S. 395.

Barrera and Zaytsev were injured in the collision and transported to Lourdes Medical Center in Pasco for treatment. Both of the semis were totalled. The patrol says the cause of the collision was driver inattention and Zaytsev was cited for second-degree negligent driving.
