Winter blizzard drops on Grant, Adams counties

MOSES LAKE — Winter slammed most of Washington this past weekend, reminding residents that spring isn’t here yet. The area received between 2-5 inches of snow.
“As you can imagine, much of the snow that did fall blew away with the winds, which... made snow observations very challenging,” said Matt Fugazzi, who is a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Spokane.
Wind, combined with the blowing snow, caused road closures on Highway 24 from Vernita to Othello and Highway 17 from Moses Lake to Othello. And winter isn’t over yet.
“The weather will continue to be cool and unsettled,” said Fugazzi.
There is a chance of flurries and snow showers on and off this week. A few more inches of snow may fall on Friday and over the weekend. Winds shouldn’t be as intense as they were over this past weekend, but should be at their usual levels. Highs will be in the low 30s and upper 20s.
