Arlee boys’ and girls’ teams as well as the Charlo girls play for championships in the Western C Divisional Basketball Tournament on Saturday evening, Feb. 23 at the Maroon Activity Center at Butte Central High School in Butte. The Arlee Warriors begin the title game doubleheader at 6:30 p.m. by facing Manhattan Christian. Arlee advanced to the championship game with a 76-62 win over Gardiner on Friday, and Manhattan Christian topped Twin Bridges 57-45.

It will be an Arlee-Charlo matchup for the girls’ championship at 8 p.m., their fourth meeting of the season. Arlee won the first encounter, and Charlo emerged the winner in the last two games, including the 14C District Tournament title game. Charlo earned a divisional title-game berth by defeating West Yellowstone 59-41 Friday evening while Arlee eased past Manhattan Christian, 62-38.

Only the top two girls’ and top two boys’ teams qualify for the All-Class State Basketball Tournament. There is a possibility for challenge games to determine the second-place team from the divisional that moves on to state.

As of Saturday morning, the Charlo boys were still alive and played in a consolation semifinal game against Gardiner. If the Vikings win the third-place game, they would be able to challenge the loser of the divisional championship game.
