The Charlo girls’ team captured the Western C Divisional Tournament title with a 60-55 overtime victory over Arlee on Saturday night at the Maroon Activities Center (MAC) at Butte Central High School in Butte. Since Arlee cannot be challenged for the No. 2 spot at state, the Scarlets join Charlo in the Class C Girls State Basketball Tournament Thursday through Saturday, Feb. 29-March 2 at Four Seasons Arena in Great Falls. Arlee faces Scobey (No. 2 from East Divisional) at 2 p.m. Thursday, and Charlo takes on Savage (No. 2 East Divisional) at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

Two-time defending boys’ Class C state champion Arlee was knocked off by Manhattan Christian in the Western C Divisional championship game Saturday evening. The Warriors will have to defeat Twin Bridges in a challenge game Tuesday, Feb. 26 to qualify for the Class C Boys State Basketball Tournament set for March 7-9 at MetraPark in Billings.

The Mission Bulldogs topped Deer Lodge 67-53 Saturday afternoon in the third-place game and will play a challenge game against Missoula Loyola on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at the Ronan Event Center. The challenge game winner earns a state tournament berth.
