Chief seniors to have party
A group calling itself the Moses Lake High School PTA was formed Thursday night to sponsor the MLHS senior graduation dance.
Dean Hagerty, group spokesman, said the dance will be June 4 in the CCD center, following graduation. Hours for the dance were set as 10 p.m. to 2 a.m.
Admittance will be only by ticket. Tickets will be handed out to seniors during the graduation ceremonies at Lions Field.
The dance and buffet dinner will be free to all seniors and their dates.
Any parent or citizen interested in assisting, either financially or physically, should contact Flossie Bellamy, Vic Bailey or Betty Holben. To make financial contributions, contact Hagerty.
Mattawa voters pass bonding
Mattawa area residents favored financing the Wahluke School District’s participation in two other high school expansions Thursday by passing a $76,000 general obligation bond measure.
Voters in the district voted 108 yes and 46 no for a 70,13 percent majority.
The bond measure, set earlier this year by school directors, will provide approximately $55,000 for expansion of school facilities at Royal City and about $21,000 for participation in the costs of expanding Othello High School.
Students from Wahluke District attend both high schools, with the number of students attending each determining the level of financial participation in the projects.
The bonds mean property owners will be assessed approximately $3.35 per $1,000 assessed valuation.
