MOSES LAKE — A weekend traffic stop near Moses Lake resulted in two arrests and the recovery of a stolen gun.

The Grant County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy witnessed a vehicle fail to signal at Loring Drive Northeast and Patton Boulevard Northeast about 12:30 p.m. on Sunday. The deputy followed the vehicle north on Patton Boulevard, but the driver, identified as 19-year-old Edward N. Villarreal, refused to pull over and continued heading north.

He later turned east onto Westover Boulevard, merged into the center lane, veered into the oncoming lane and then back into the center lane, where he stopped and turned on the vehicle’s hazard lights.

Deputies discovered Villarreal was wanted for failing to comply with a domestic violence malicious mischief charge. The sheriff’s office says as Villareal was being taken into custody he advised deputies he had a gun in his waistband. Police further discovered Villarreal did not have a concealed pistol license (CPL) and he was booked into the Grant County Jail on the outstanding warrant and investigation of a CPL violation.

The passenger in the vehicle, identified as 20-year-old Cyrus Knoll, was found to be carrying a pistol in his waistband as well, along with a spring-loaded knife and marijuana. The weapon was previously reported as stolen out of Moses Lake. Knoll was booked into jail for investigation of a stolen firearm.
