No gun was found in Kalispell Middle School following an investigation into an allegation that one was possibly located in a student locker.

A letter from Principal Tryg Johnson and School Resource Officer Michelle O’Neil went out to staff and families with middle school students on Tuesday, apprising them of the situation.

A student, who overheard the rumor, brought the information to administrators, according to O’Neil. As part of the investigation, students were interviewed, lockers searched and video surveillance footage reviewed, which yielded no indication a gun had been brought into the school.

“We are grateful that this investigation and search did not produce any indication of a gun at the MS,” an administrator update to staff stated.

O’Neil said this is the first report of its kind at the middle school.
