SANDPOINT — A Montana man was arrested on Saturday night for threatening two people with a knife while stabbing himself in the head with a steak knife.

Brice Woodrow Crandall is charged with two counts of aggravated assault and one count of disturbing the peace, Bonner County Magistrate Court records show. Crandall made an initial court appearance via video feed from the Bonner County Jail, although court minutes were not immediately available on Monday.

Crandall, 35, turned up unannounced at a Berry Patch Loop Road home near Athol shortly before 11 p.m. and threatened to kill all the occupants in the home. Crandall allegedly stabbed himself in the head with the knife while making the threats, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Crandall, who had a stab wound on the top right side of his head, demanded a deputy at the scene take him to jail or something bad would happen, but would not elaborate.

Crandall also threatened to kill one of the home’s occupant’s under his breath, but the deputy heard the utterance, the affidavit said.

Crandall alternately admitted to stabbing himself and blaming it on a relative, court documents indicate. He told the alleged victims that he drove to Idaho from Montana and did not plan to return. Occupants of the home told a deputy that they spoke with Crandall over the phone the previous day and he sounded fine, court documents said
