MOSES LAKE — A 13-year-old student at Chief Moses Middle School was emergency expelled Monday after being spotted on campus with a pocketknife by a school resource officer, according to police reports.

The student reportedly told law enforcement that he brought the knife on campus to protect himself from other students he was feuding with.

Officers with the Moses Lake Police Department happened to have a greater-than-normal presence on campus Monday in response to earlier unsubstantiated threats against the school district. The responding officer issued a citation to the teen for possession of a weapon on school grounds.
