The Wildkats basketball team made short work of their competition last week, downing Ronan by 37 Thursday before defeating Corvallis by 15 Saturday.

The Kats jumped out to a 12-0 lead against the Maidens in Ronan Thursday and never looked back on their way to a 70-33 victory.

Ryley Kehr led the way for the Kats with 23 points and 14 rebounds in the win while Josie Windauer added 14 points and four boards. Trista Cowan was also in double figures with 10 points and added 9 rebounds.

The Kats built another large lead on the road Saturday as they took on Corvallis, the first-place team in the Southwest A Conference.

“I thought we came out played well on offense early on and built a good lead. It was a good chance for us to get playing time for a lot of kids, which is good,” head coach Cary Finberg said.

The Kats wound up out-rebounding the Lady Blue Devils 48-26 en route to a 50-35 victory.

“We did well on the boards and got to the line 30 times, even though we only made 12 of them,” Finberg said. “Now we just need to do a better job of taking care of the ball. Once we do that, we will have even more chances to score. It is something we are capable of doing.”

Kehr once again led the Kats in scoring in the win with 18 points and added six rebounds. Cowan scored nine and added 14 boards. Madysen Hoerner had eight points and nine rebounds and Savvy Ellis added six points and four rebounds.

The Kats finish out the season with four home games, which started against Polson Tuesday. The team will host Libby Thursday before hosting Whitefish and Browning next week.
