OTHELLO — The Othello Old Hotel has announced its January Artists of the Month, Linda Crosier, Linda Boothman, Terry Rice and Jenn Stevenson, who each produced a quilt inspired by the murder mystery, “Murder at Jamestown.”
The project was part of the Murder Mystery Quilt Block of the Month, which sent out a chapter of the murder mystery every month along with directions to complete a single block, or segment, or the eventual quilt. After 13 months and 13 chapters, the quilts are complete and now grace the walls of the Old Hotel.
“It was a really fun and wild thing to do,” said Stevenson, director of the Old Hotel and one of this month’s featured artists. “It was exciting to see how everyone would design their own pieces based off the murder mystery chapters.”
She and the other winners all quilt together with a group informally called the Lutheran Quilting Ladies, who all participate in producing quilts for charity via Lutheran World Relief. The donated quilts go to people across the world who are patients, caregivers, and otherwise in need of a comforting token of kindness.
Those interested in joining or donating to the quilting ladies can leave a voicemail at 509-488-9952.
