'Babes' hit the stage in local play

The auditorium at Polson High School was quite patriotic as more than 100 local students took part in the Port Polson Players performance of “Babes To Broadway” last week.
Fifty-five students in grades kindergarten through eighth grade performed in a show Friday, Jan. 25, and 55 others the following day.
Neal and Karen Lewing of PPP wrote and directed the play, which included songs and dancing.
Cathy Gillhouse directed music, while Desiree Alexander and Spring Johnson served as assistants to directors.
Debbie Gunlock and Jaycee Morrison from Cherry Valley Elementary also took the stage with the students in both performances.
“Babes To Broadway” marked the 35th year PPP have produced a K-8 opportunity for Polson students at the high school.
Mission Valley Friends of the Arts and Polson School District 23, along with PPP, sponsored the performance.
Both casts also performed for the school district Monday.
Students from Cherry Valley and Linderman Elementary were transported by bus to the high school for a morning show, while Polson Middle School students made the journey for an afternoon viewing.
