The city of Polson is reminding residents about parked vehicles.

According to Matt Ellermann, code compliance officer for the city, Polson municipal code prohibits leaving abandoned, wrecked or junked vehicles on public or private property.

Vehicles are not to be parked or left standing on the right-of-way of a public highway longer than 48 hours.

Motorists are also reminded that vehicles are not to be parked or left on city, state or county roads, or on city property longer than five days.

The last-registered owner of the vehicle is responsible for the abandonment, and will be held liable for any costs incurred in removing the vehicle.

Motorists are asked to ensure that adequate clearance is allotted for snowplow trucks to operate.
