MOSES LAKE — A workshop attached to a home on the 5400 block of Mae Valley Road was destroyed in a fire caused by a welding accident late Tuesday morning, according to fire officials.

Every vehicle in the Grant County Fire District No. 5 fleet was deployed to the scene to fight the blaze, fire officials said. The fire ripped through the shop and did minor damage to an adjoining home, but no one was injured, said Fire Marshal Bruce Gribble, who spoke with the elderly owners of the home.

Flammable materials in the shop lit up after sparks flew from a welding torch, Gribble said, and the fire was ruled accidental.
