Post Falls gets its fest going

POST FALLS — The community summer festival circuit turns its spotlight on Post Falls this weekend.
The Post Falls Festival runs today through Sunday.
The parade starts at 10 a.m. on Saturday on Seltice Way from Frederick to Idaho streets.
"This year, to change things up a little, the parade will start with a five-minute warning from Stateline Speedway," said Warren Merritt, Kootenai County Fire and Rescue chief and parade co-organizer. "There will be 10 race cars from different classes that will enter the parade route at 9:55 a.m."
About 60 entries — same as last year — will be in the parade.
"The parade is a success because of the partnership of many businesses and organizations," Merritt said. "It takes many volunteers to make it all happen."
Sponsors include First Interstate Bank, Coldwell Banker/Schneidmiller Realty and Ground Force.
"Folks attending should probably come in from the north as the staging areas (on the south side of Seltice) will be identified and not available for public parking," Merritt said.
Suzanna Spencer will emcee. She’ll be in the parking lot of First Interstate Bank (formerly Community 1st Bank).
Today's agenda includes food and craft vendors, live music and a beer garden from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Q'emiln Park. The McDonald's Big Wheel Race at the park's Grand Pavilion starts at 6:30 p.m. Registration starts at 5 p.m.
The movie "Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom" will be shown at dusk in the park.
The Post Falls Parks and Recreation Department is organizing most of the events in the park.
Saturday's schedule also includes a free ice-cream social from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Post Falls Museum; a car show at City Hall from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.; vendors, music and beer garden at Q'emiln Park from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and a craft fair at the Grand Pavilion from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Sunday's agenda includes a worship service at 10 a.m. at the Grand Pavilion and vendors and music from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
