EDUCATION: Reward best parents, students

I listened to state Representatives Jim Addis and Paul Amador speak at the Kootenai County Democrat lunch Friday.

All very good and local questions were asked — things that truly matter. Funding of education was one of the many good questions. For me, I’m very proud to live in a country where every child gets a chance at an education and I’m willing to pay for it.

An Idaho education never seems to meet someone’s expectations so blame gets cast to the teachers, the teachers’ union, the administration — but never on the parents, where the blame truly belongs.

I propose this solution to the state of Idaho: The Idaho child tax credit should be adjustable. The better the GPA, the better the deduction. The lower the GPA, the lower deduction. This would allow the non-caring parents to pay for wasting teachers’ and students’ time.

Problem solved. Next one, please?
