BONNERS FERRY — During the Kootenai River Days celebrations, local businesses teamed up for Crazy Dayz. Each place had sales and other incentives to bring customers into their business and see all they had to offer.

Crazy Dayz is not only a way to promote local businesses, but it encourages people to shop locally, in turn supporting the local economy.

“It’s always a great event to get people out and bring them in the door,” said Kynsie Pauls from Under the Sun. “It’s a great day for sales, there are lots of out-of-towners, and great support from locals.”

The Crazy Dayz event spanned over Friday and Saturday, allowing shoppers time to look around.

“(Friday) was busier, but it has been good for business,” said Angela Hittle of Vinyl Expressions on Saturday, July 13.

With the weekend’s celebrations, tourists stopped in on their way through to take advantage of the sales and fun.

“Business is crazy good,” said Nancy Croll of Boundary Consignment. “We love Crazy Dayz because we love the exposure. It brings a lot of tourists, and that means more business for our wonderful town and all the great shops and attractions it holds.”

There are various benefits for shopping local. Keeping money local instead of spending it at large corporations enables neighbors, friends, even family to thrive as it not only supports the local owners, but those they may employ.

Business owners, especially in Boundary County, tend to support one another. By doing that, they strengthen the community through networking, word of mouth advertising, recommendations, and much more.

Crazy Dayz not only brings celebratory sales, it also brings the community together to support one another.
