For the week of July 9-10, Game of the Day was “Low Gross,” a goal worth striving for but with conservative probabilities unlikely to happen.
Beating the odds on Tuesday night, Flight A, was Julie Williams with 42, and on Wednesday morning, Jenny Link with 43, both remarkable outcomes. The Flight B winners were: Tuesday night, Suzanne Cullinan with 51; Wednesday morning Anne Bonar with 56. Very good, ladies! Also on Wednesday morning in Flight A, Jenny Link had a chip in for a birdie on Hole #4 plus another birdie on Hole #2 (no chip in but a very long putt!) Therese Helmer tied with Jenny for Low Net with 35, and Karen English won for low putts with an amazing 13. In Flight B, Anne Bonar won Low Putts with 16 and there was a three way tie for Low Net with 20 between Ruth Ann Wilson, Beverly Comegys and Connie McCreary.
Other noteworthy accomplishments on Tuesday night in Flight A, Gerry Ann Howlett won Low Net with 37, Julie Williams had a birdie on Hole #9 (remarkable, as Hole #9 does not have a good reputation for birdies;) and won Low Putts with 15. In Flight B, Suzanne Cullinan won for Low Net with 31, and Low Putts with 17, an achievement aided by her chip in on Hole #3.

There were two “Games of the Day” for the Mirror Lake ladies’ first Fall week of golf, “1st 9-hole Club Champion” and “Mystery Partner.” The 9-hole Club Champion is determined by whoever posts the Low Gross score. In Mystery Partner, numbers are drawn out of a hat at the end of play to determine who the partners are, and the partners with the lowest accumulated score win the prize.
