OTHELLO — The Othello/Adams County Fire District No. 5 Firefighters Association has received a $2,500 grant from the America’s Farmers Grow Communities, sponsored by the Bayer Fund. The grant was announced in a press release on July 9.
“As part of their mission, the Othello/Adams County Fire District No. 5 Firefighters Association will use the funds to promote fire safety education and purchase equipment to enhance firefighting activities” said Justin Barker, Othello/Adams County Fire District No. 5 Firefighters Association President.
The firefighters received the grant thanks to Othello farmer Richard Colley.
“America’s Farmers Grow Communities partners with farmers to support nonprofit organizations strengthening rural communities,” said the press release. “The program offers farmers the chance to direct a $2,500 donation to a non-profit of their choice. It has awarded more than $33 million to over 8,000 nonprofits across rural America.”
