Richland Bombers 9, Othello Red Raiders 8

WALLA WALLA — The Red Raiders fought back from an early deficit, but were unable to even the score in the seventh in their first-round district game.

Richland opened the scoring in the bottom of the first with a pair of runs. Othello and Richland went back and forth in the second and third inning, tied 4-4, after the top of the third. Five runs in the bottom of the inning helped the Bombers pull ahead.

Four runs in the last three innings helped the Red Raiders cut into the deficit, but wasn’t enough to even the score in the opening district game.

The Red Raiders outhit the Bombers 11-10 in the game. The Red Raiders finished with three errors in the game, with Richland finishing with two.

Joshua Garza led Othello from the plate, going 3-3, with an RBI, a double, and two runs earned. Trey Garza knocked a home run for the Red Raiders, going 1-4, with a pair of RBIs and two runs earned.

Calgary Blues 9, Columbia Basin Riverdogs 6

CALGARY, Alberta — A late surge from the Blues helped them pull away from the Riverdogs in the Babe Ruth Regional Championship 9-6.

The Riverdogs picked up an early lead in the bottom of the first, going up 1-0, before stretching the lead to four in the third. The Flames picked up runs late, cutting the deficit to one run by the end of the sixth. Six runs in the top of the seventh helped the Blues take the lead.

The Riverdogs scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the inning to cut into the deficit but were unable to come back. The Flames knocked 13 hits as a team, with two errors in the field.

The Riverdogs finished with nine hits as a team, with three errors in the field. Dax Lindgren led the Riverdogs from the plate, going 3-4, with a pair of runs earned. Gabe Passey finished 2-3 as well, with a triple, a pair of RBIs and a run scored.

Evan McLean pitched five innings for the Riverdogs, allowing two runs off eight hits, with nine strikeouts.
