Days of delight continue

HAYDEN — Hayden Days will offer several family activities on Friday and Saturday at McIntire Family Park, 8930 N. Government Way.
"More than 65 great food and mixed-goods vendors will be there with a tasty variety of cuisine and fun merchandise for everyone," said Suzanne Cano, Hayden's recreation and community events director.
Friday's hours are 2-9 p.m. The Sing, Play and Move performance will be at 2 p.m. The Kelly Hughes Band will perform from 6:30-9 p.m.
Saturday's agenda includes:
- pancake feed organized by Northern Lakes Fire District, 7-9:30 a.m. (suggested $7 donation);
- Military Appreciation Parade, 10 a.m., Government Way from Hayden Avenue to Honeysuckle;
- car show, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Honeysuckle Ball Field;
- Justin James performance, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.;
- Hayden's Got Talent show, 1:30-3:30 p.m., Main Stage; and
- music by The Fabulous Kingpins, 6:30-9:30 p.m.
The parade will start with a flyover and include the 2018 Distinguished Veteran of the Year and Grand Marshal Mac McCarty.
Other entries include: Northern Lakes Fire, Smokey Bear representing the U.S. Forest Service, Vietnam Veterans of America, Lake City High School cheerleaders, Disabled American Veterans, Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office and classic cars.
Government Way will be closed to the public from 8-10 a.m. from Hayden to Dakota Avenue for the parade and will reopen once parade units have passed. Beginning at 9:55 a.m., side streets from Hayden to Nita Avenue will also be blocked off and reopened once parade units have passed.
Throughout the event, there will be a beer and wine garden to benefit the Hayden Senior Center, kids games, a dunk tank, pony rides, bounce houses, an inflatable pool with water balls and a bookmobile.
