BBCC to host administrators

Adult education administrators from community colleges throughout the state are expected to attend a fall meeting at Big Bend Community College Thursday and Friday.

The two-day meting will concern such subjects as adult basic education, community education and senior citizen programs, said Fred Huston, continuing education director at BBCC.

The focus will be on adult programs that assist people in career advancement and life enrichment. All sessions will be in Smith Dining Hall, also known as Building 1200.

Quincy to end water delivery.

The Quincy Irrigation District will turn off water delivery systems the morning of Thursday, Oct. 21, Manager Doug Finkelnburg said.

The final day of water delivery this season will be Wednesday, Oct. 20, he said.

When the system is drained the Quincy Irrigation District will begin its annual maintenance operations in preparation for the 1977 season.

Hearings set

Grant County Commissioners set four public meetings for conditional use zone permits on Monday, Oct. 25, at their meeting here Monday.

The zoning requests are from Hugh Thomas Sr. and Jr., for a preliminary plat of Pleasant View Acres; from Donald Backus for a preliminary plat of Huntsman Acres; from John McKee and Jack St. Marie for a preliminary plat of St. Marie Acres and from Charles Freestone for a change from agricultural to suburban for a residence.

Luring the ducks

Columbia Basin hunters will gain insight into better duck and goose calling in a special Community Schools class at 7 p.m. today at Frontier Junior High School’s cafeteria.

Included will be a demonstration of methods with participants to get a chance to try their own abilities.
