- Brooke Erickson, 23, a 2014 graduate of Lake City High School, received first-place honors (best brief, best oralist) at the Jenkins Honors Moot Court Competition at Marquette University Law School in Milwaukee. The event focused on the First Amendment. Erickson just finished her second year of law school at Marquette.
- Six North Idaho College students took part in a roundtable Friday at the Parker Technical Education Center as part of the PBS special “Chasing the Moon” airing July 8. The discussion, led by Gizmo-CDA founders Marty and Barb Mueller, involved NIC students, dual-credit students and recent graduates who have aspirations that could take them beyond earth.
- Former Idaho Republican Party Chairman Jonathan Parker was arrested in Boise Thursday on first-degree stalking charges. He resigned as chairman in February. He could face a $1,000 fine and up to five years imprisonment. The Idaho GOP will vote on a new chairman at the party’s summer meeting later this month.
- The Kootenai County Department of Motor Vehicles is experiencing heavy traffic as residents seek to register boats and RVs. The DMV suggests using its free QLESS app to schedule appointments and reduce wait time. App users are given priority over walk-ins.
