Ina was born November 10, 1919, in Kootenai, Idaho, to Don and Amy Miller. She grew up with eight siblings, on Whiskey Jack Road in Kootenai. Ina attended Kootenai School, and then graduated from Sandpoint High School in 1937. She was the last surviving member of that graduating class. She went on to attend Northwest Business School in Spokane, working for her room and board. Upon graduation Ina worked for Bonner County Bank and at the Bonner County courthouse.
On October 20,1939, Ina married Elmer Jacobson. They were married by the Rev. A.H. Morton in Sandpoint. They moved into the Oden home that Elmer had already purchased for his new bride. In 1942, Elmer was drafted into the Army for World War II, serving in Africa and Italy. Upon his return, they would raise their family and become active in the community spending their entire married life together in that home. Ina appreciated her family and the neighbors in the area.
Ina loved to play the piano. She was the church pianist at First Christian Church for many years. She also played for the schools, for the Grange and wherever asked. She was a member of the Oden Busy Bees, the Pack River Thimble Club, Selle Homemakers and the First Christian Church. Ina loved a good game of pinochle, quilting, gardening, embroidering, reading, watching Gonzaga basketball and Mariners baseball. She spent many years in the bleachers watching her sons and grandchildren play ball.
Ina is survived by her three sons, Al (Diana) of Vancouver, Washington, Larry (Debbie) of Wasilla, Alaska, and Roy (Carrie) of Sandpoint. Also surviving are six of her seven grandchildren, Bryan Jacobson of Boise; Becky Hansel of Vancouver, Bobbi Hite of Portland, Oregon, Brit Reid of Buford, Georgia, Sunny Weiner of Milton, Georgia, and Julie Walkington of Sandpoint; 19 great-grandchildren; as well as two brothers, Lyle Miller of Chicago and Jerry Miller of Thompson Falls.
Ina was preceded in death by her husband Elmer, her parents, six of her siblings, her granddaughter Jenny Meyer and many, many friends.
