Monte Heil has repeatedly argued (starting with Daily Bee, Feb. 1, 2019) that CO2 can never accumulate in the Earth’s atmosphere in amounts that will seriously threaten the environment.

As evidence, he has cited “Atmospheric Escape – Wikipedia,” a broad-based discussion about the loss of gasses from planetary bodies. Nothing in that general discussion validates his argument. More importantly, the article addresses the specific properties of CO2 by providing a link (“carbon dioxide”) to an in-depth article in the same database. Unfortunately for Mr. Heil, information in that supplemental article flatly disproves his claim. Can Mr. Heil cite any peer-reviewed studies published in reputable scientific journals that specifically support his assertion that man-made CO2 can’t attain levels in the Earth’s atmosphere that will adversely affect our planet’s ecosystems? If not, what then accounts for his seemingly cavalier outlook?

Mr. Heil cites an article published by “Natural News” in an attempt to refute the reliability of climate change models. True to form, he continues scraping the bottom of the barrel. “Natural News“ is a conspiracy/pseudoscience/fake news promoting website that is rated as “one of the most discredited sources on the internet.” (See “‘Natural News’ Media Bias/Fact Check” and “#Natural Nonsense: Science Supporters Condemn Natural News Founder Mike Adams”)

If Mr. Heil is truly interested in obtaining factual information about climate change, I suggest he stop selectively bottom feeding on the internet and focus instead on mainstream science sources such as Skeptical Science, RealClimate, and 101 Top Web Resources on Climate Change.
