SCAC-CWAC Spring Sports Wrap-up

MOSES LAKE — As spring athletics come to a close, several players and teams achieved accolades for their achievements this season. In the CWAC, Othello junior Patrick Azevedo was named Golfer of the Year. Azevedo has now finished in the top five in the state championship all three years he has competed.
Azevedo and senior Isaiah Garza received first team honors for Othello.
In tennis, Othello’s Josh Lewis and Abraham Alvarez was named Boys Doubles Team of the Year Award. Macy Hampton and Julissa Cantu received the Girls Doubles Team honor for Othello.
A number of other athletes received All-League honors for Othello. In baseball, Jay Rodriguez and Joshua Garza were named First team. Nathan Garza Jr. was named to the Second team. Jonathan Garza II, Sebastian Munoz, and Jaxon Rocha received honorable mention honors.
In softball, Malayah Sauceda and Maya Valdez were named to the First team. Emily Garza and Breanna Marquina received Second team honors. Janissa Garza received honorable mention.
In boys soccer, Juan Tapia was named to First team. Christian Arzivu and Bernabe Garza Jr. were named to Second team. Luis Luna received honorable mention.
In the SCAC, freshman Orlando Erazo was named Player of the Year in boy’s soccer for Wahluke on the team’s way to a District tournament title. Royal coach Jens Jensen received Coach of the Year with the Knights claiming the regular season title.
Other SCAC players received All-League honors. In boys soccer, William Dominguez and Alex Valdez received First team honors for Wahluke. Luis Rodriguez, Alonso Hernandez, Martin Hernandez, and Daniel Bonilla were named First team from Royal. Second team honors included Royal’s Ty Miller, Isidro Torres, Eliser Romero, and Wahluke’s Yerik Arellano, Alejandro Rivera, and Edwin Martinez. Honorable mentions were Lizandro Hernandez of Royal and Juan Acevedo of Wahluke.
In baseball, Kevin Reyes, Sawyer Jenks, JC Worsham, and Cooper Christensen received First team honors. Derek Bergeson received Second team honors for the Knights. Tyler Allred received honorable mention.
In softball, Royal’s Makayla Sanchez and Chenoa Louie were named to First team. Wahluke’s Sydney Zirker was named to Second team. Raylie Wardenaar of Royal and Sujeli Ruvalcaba of Wahluke received honorable mentions.
Jacob Joslin was named to second team in boys golf for the Knights. Royal’s Kaylee Janett received First team honors. Alex Bangs from Wahluke was named to Second team.
