Lums sweep Northern Lakes

RATHDRUM — Marcus Manzardo went 3 for 4 and scored three runs as the Coeur d’Alene Lumbermen beat the Northern Lakes Mountaineers 11-1 in the first game of a class AA North Idaho League doubleheader Monday at Gorton Field.
In the second game, three Lumbermen pitchers, despite issuing nine walks, combined on a no-hitter in a 5-2 victory over the Mountaineers, in a game called after four innings due to darkness.
Alex Karns went 3 for 5 with two RBIs and two runs scored for the Lums, and Landen Thompson hit a two-run single in the first inning. Trent Elstad went 2 for 4 with an RBI and a run scored, and Jake Brown was 2 for 4 and scored twice.
Nicholas Welch had two hits for Northern Lakes.
Zach Mackimmie, Landon Vergeer and Alex Karns teamed for the no-hitter for Coeur d’Alene (5-4-1, 2-0 NIL). Bode Bailey drove in a pair of runs for the Lums.
Northern Lakes (1-3, 0-2) is scheduled to host Prairie tonight at 5 in a league game.
Coeur d’Alene is slated to host Northern Lakes in a doubleheader Thursday at 5 p.m. at Thorco Field.
