Fun, big bucks at bull bash

BONNERS FERRY — Boundary County once again came together for the annual Bull Bash event at the Boundary County Fairgrounds on June 8.
The stands were packed as the crowd cheered on the contestants throughout the event. The announcer recognized each bull, cowboy and cowgirl as they competed to win in the events of bull riding, barrel racing and team roping.
As the barrels were being set up, the ladies in the back tossed prizes into the crowd as the announcer kept things alive and going with excitement and gusto.

Selkirk Saddle Club Bull Bash Barrel Racing
Open Champion Barrel Racer was Teagan Gann with 17.04 seconds, second place was Amanda Haworth with 17.14, third place was Madison Bartrop 18.38, fourth place was Larryssa Grove 18.90, and fifth place was Chelsea Spies 19.66.
Youth Barrel Racing
Champion Barrel racer was Teagan Gann 17.35, second place was Larryssa Grove 20.13, third place was Avalon Thiel 24.29, and fourth place was Alexie Garcia 41.02.

Team Roping results
The first place team’s time 5.7 seconds. The Champion Header was Justin King and the Champion Heeler was Jayson Blackmore. The second place team at 6.5 seconds was Tony Lowry and Travis Lowry. The third place team at 7.4 seconds was Andy Rice and Mike Smith.
The 2019 Challenge of Champions Bull Riding Champion first place and buckle went to Dalton Howard $2121.13, second place was Dawson Branton $1702.88, third place went to Dawson Branton $1284.63, and fourth place was Dalton Davis $866.38. The Bounty Bull award $500.00 went to Dawson Branton.
