Joe McDonald Health and Fitness Center on the Salish Kootenai College campus in Pablo will be the site of the American Cancer Society Lake County Race to End Cancer events Saturday, June 15.

Included will be 1-mile, 5-kilometer and 10-kilometer run/walks, plus a pig roast, raffle and cake auction. The event begins at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Featured during the Lake County Race to End Cancer will be a luminaria ceremony. A luminaria is a small paper lantern, commonly with a lighted candle inside. Luminarias may be purchased at the Race to End Cancer event.

Luminarias honor every life touched by cancer. You can dedicate them to a loved one lost, someone currently battling, or anyone who’s overcome it. When you attend a Relay for Life event, you’ll see the luminarias decorated with names and sometimes messages to the people to whom they’re dedicated.

The goal for the Lake County event is to raise $50,000 to go toward cancer research.

Registration is free for Relay participants. To register as an individual or team, go online to https://www.crowdrise.com/o/en/campaign/lake-county-race-to-end-cancer.
