Coeur d’Alene Summer Theatre will present "Arsenic and Old Lace" at 7:30 p.m. on June 25 at the Kroc Center.
Coeur d’Alene Summer Theatre Director Tracey Vaughan describes "Arsenic and Old Lace" as a "classic piece of funny theater."
"It remains a really popular work to produce today because the situation comedy has stood the test of time," she said. "What appears to be a very tranquil setting — a sweet, elderly pair of sisters caring for boarders and their unbalanced nephew — quickly turns into a nightmare for the normal one in the family, Mortimer Brewster, a drama critic."
It's a play filled with layers of humor, Vaughan said.
"When Mortimer discovers his aunts have been dipping into poison to relieve poor, old souls of their lonely lives, and his homicidal brother returns to town with a mad scientist in tow, all hell breaks loose," she said.
