TRUMP: Patriots can abhor him
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 5 years, 7 months AGO
My congratulations to Mr. Michael Quinn on his well-written letter concerning attitudes toward our president. Rarely have we seen a letter supporting this man without extreme vilification of those who are no supporters of this narcissist. I agree with Mr. Quinn that the country is divided, but I do not agree that there are any qualities that would make Trump appear in a positive light.
I listened to the words spoken at Normandy and can say that for a few minutes he did look somewhat presidential. Has he set the bar so low that normal behavior now deserves extreme praise? Minutes before his address, he sat in front of the sacred marble crosses and stars to deliver scorching political comments directed toward patriotic Americans who differ with him. That was not appropriate or patriotic.
No, I cannot conclude that Queen Elizabeth has much respect or admiration for the man who wants to be King Donald of the United States. Our allies have found that they have every reason to mistrust the U.S. as Trump shows support for Russia over NATO. He believes the word of Putin over his own intelligence services. He supports tyrants in Saudi Arabia and North Korea, both of whom have murdered their own citizens in the past year.
This is a man who was paying hush money to a porn star to prevent American citizens from knowing who they were voting for (even on the day we were casting early votes).
In my opinion this man is not qualified to be president; he has very limited understanding of the Constitution; he has proved to be a pathological liar and proof of criminal behavior is already obvious. As for his ONE legislative accomplishment: He is using massive deficit spending to finance his “economic recovery.” So, while I appreciate the chance for this civil discussion of the issue, Mr. Quinn, I DO think that many good patriotic people who love President Trump are THAT wrong.
Let’s make America, America … again.
