POST FALLS — A 44-year-old Spokane man died at the scene of a motorcycle accident Saturday afternoon in the 3600 block of South Greensferry Road.

The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office reports Kevin D. Hackworth lost control of his motorcycle around 4 p.m., crashed and went over an embankment. Lifesaving efforts were attempted by deputies and medical personnel, but Hackworth was pronounced dead at the scene.

Excessive speed is a possible cause of the accident, KSCO reported, and alcohol does not appear to be a factor. Hackworth was wearing a helmet.

The Kootenai County Traffic Team has taken over investigation of the accident.
