HAYDEN LAKE — If you're itching to be outside on Sunday but want to avoid the crowds at Hoopfest in Spokane and the Ironman triathlon in downtown Coeur d'Alene, the sixth-annual Hayden Lake Classic Boat Show will offer a laid-back alternative — with much easier parking.

The free show will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Hayden Lake Marina docks, 3830 E. Hayden Lake Road.

The show will feature mahogany runabouts from the ’20s to the ’60s, said organizer and participant Don Vogt. "There will be a variety of styles and sizes. It will include rare antiques and more recent classics made both in the United States and Canada."

Vogt said a pre-World War II triple-cockpit runabout and newer, larger runabouts made in Coeur d'Alene will be on display. His 1938 Chris-Craft will also be in the show.

Vogt said the show was an informal event in which attendees can view the boats and ask questions to the boat owners.

"It's low-key, and it should be a nice day," he said.

Attendees will be unable to visit the show via boat because the show will consume the remaining slips at the dock.

The Boathouse restaurant, adjacent to the marina, will open at 10 a.m. to accommodate visitors.

Parking will be available next to the restaurant and marina.
