Fast Five: Bobby Myers

Meet Bobby Myers, the marketing and communications director of a Coeur d'Alene nonprofit.
Generation: Labeled a millennial, AKA the "reality TV" generation.
Career and community involvement: I am the marketing and communications director for Northwest Council for Computer Education, a nonprofit dedicated to providing professional learning opportunities to educators across the country. Our organization implements technology as a tool in the classroom that allows teachers and students alike the opportunity to let their minds learn, create and share with the world. We travel the country to demonstrate, teach and write the curriculum for the best practice in implementing technology in the classroom. Outside of work, I’m involved with a handful of community organizations including CDA 2030, the Coeur Group, the Coeur d’Alene Education Partnership and The EXCEL Foundation. Being able to surround myself with the ambitious people that make up these organizations is incredibly rewarding with every project we accomplish.
1. Why do you participate in community groups like CDA2030?
The community outreach opportunities in Coeur d'Alene are incredible. These community-driven organizations are a vital pulse to segments of our community that I’m honored to lend a hand in. For any young professional in Coeur d'Alene, I guarantee there is a community organization that fits your passion, is flexible to your schedule and absolutely grateful for your contribution. Get involved and be a part of the change you want to see happen.
2. What makes you feel the most accomplished so far in your life?
The feeling that my friends, family and colleagues know they can depend on me has been my greatest accomplishment and I intend to continue to exceed that expectation.
3. Books or movies, and do you have a favorite of each?
Movies. I’m a millennial, so instant gratification is a must. I don’t have a favorite, but I can tell you that horror films take major convincing for me to watch. The music from "Halloween" alone has scarred me for life. Favorite book: "The Tipping Point" by Malcolm Gladwell.
4. What's something people would be surprised to learn about you?
People might be surprised to learn that my ultimate fear is regret. The thought of looking back on my life and asking myself, "Why didn’t I try that sooner?” would be devastating. Life isn’t long enough to wait on dreams. Even though I might not always get it right, I never want to be the guy refusing to try.
5. If you could go back in time, when would you visit and what would you do?
If I could go back in time I would travel back to 1997 and purchase Amazon stock for $18 a share and relive Michael Jordan’s last season one more time.
