The city of Whitefish is holding a public meeting to present information about efforts to reduce congestion and provide alternative modes of transportation downtown and throughout the city.

Representatives from the Western Transportation Institute and Eagle Transit will be presenting information related to transit, transportation and parking in Whitefish on Monday, March 11 at 6:30 p.m. in Council Chambers at City Hall.

Western Transportation Institute will present the results of a downtown business and employee survey, discuss the proposed design and location of a downtown multi-modal transportation hub, describe existing transit opportunities around town and the region, and introduce a pilot project with Eagle Transit for expanded local transit options in the summer.

Representatives from Eagle Transit will be presenting potential options for expanded local summer transit.

“We are very excited to be working on implementing some of the transit, transportation and parking related tasks described in the Depot Park Master Plan, Downtown Business District Master Plan and the Climate Action Plan,” said Karin Hilding, Senior Project Engineer for Public Works. “Our goal is to reduce congestion and improve the parking experience downtown.”

The meeting is the start of a public involvement process that will also include subsequent public meetings focused on downtown parking.

Question about the upcoming meeting may be directed to Hilary Lindh, with the Whitefish Planning and Building Department via email at hlindh@cityofwhitefish.org or by calling 863-1254.
